SunFounder 37 Modules Sensor Kit V2.0 for Raspberry PI 2: Using relay to activate IR – floodlight and take pictures at night

20151115_ir_photoAnother interesting item in the SunFounder 37 modules sensor kit is the relay module. This can be used to control electrical devices that cannot be connected directly to the Raspberry Pi because of higher voltage or current. In this example the relay will activate a floodlight built with 32 infrared LEDs to take a photo in the dark using the Raspberry Pi NoIr camera.

SunFounder 37 Modules Sensor Kit V2.0 for Raspberry Pi 2

IMG_20151103_221409 Today I received the SunFounder 37 Modules Sensor Kit V2.0 for Raspberry Pi 2. Compared to the old sensor kit from SunFounder there are several improvements and also some more interesting sensors.

The first improvement is that the manual now includes circuits for every sensor and the manual seems to be much more detailed. Some of the new sensors are a real time clock (RTC), a LCD display, a barometer, an ultrasonic distance sensor and many more. Many other sensors where already included in the first kit.

So again this kit promises many hours of nerdy fun. I am planning to write some blog posts about the kit within the next weeks and months.
